What’s Next For The Channel? New Bike Release. Can You Guess?
I just bought a 2017 Victory Octane as my first motorcycle. There are many websites you can purchase parts from, the bike itself was very affordable and from what I've heard about Victory's reputation is that their motorcycles are very reliable.
I agree with you. Victory is a great bike. Easier to deal with than my Ducati. (I assume we are both Canuks) Good review, bud.
Here before the gear police
Black Matte is difficult to see, if your sitting at a light at night and your tail light bulb burns out, or breaker/fuse trips, you’re practically invisible, if this is what you’re going for, just be aware that no one can see your bike clearly when there’s light pollution from oncoming traffic, street lights, commercial plazas illuminated signs, or morning eastbound/evening westbound sun glare blazing into their faces through dirty nicotine film coated kids fingerprint covered fogged up windshields, forget it, you don’t exist in the visible spectrum, chrome fixes this by blinging beams of diffracted sunshine or headlight illumination indicating your physical presence to the visible realm!
The stock halogen was impressive to begin with
you still have the 2012 one? you regret selling the 06?
Sold the 06 and don’t regret it. I also just sold the 2012 R1 and I do regret it. Was hands down my favourite bike to own and ride even with the issues it had. I replaced it with a 2012 aprilia RSV4. It’s a cool bike but will never replace the Crossplane!
Hey i love the pipes you got on here. Any idea what they are? All ive seen is the trask 2 into 1 which looks kinda doodoo. Do they run pretty hot during hard riding and in traffic?
They are conquest 2-1 pipes. Yes they can get hot but they do have a heat shield you probably can’t notice in the video. It helps a lot
Are they good for 2011 model and bright for night rides on highway speeds
Better than stock but you can still out drive the light at higher speeds
My XSR900 gives me a Boner when I ride it.. Oil Light, Starter issues? Pretty Rare I'd think.. How many miles, etc..
26000kms when starter failed completely and left me stranded.
I have a 6.0 with tvs1900 ….whats the ideal pulley kit to unlock her more ?
Unfortunately can’t downsize very much without machining the snout. I used a 3.0 I think a 2.9 is as small as you can go without modifying the snout
@@JT2JZ what’s the most hp you got out of it
I’ve never had it dynoed but it’s ballpark around 500ish. The truck has been 13.6 @ 98mph in the 1/4 mile on 22” wheels if that gives you a better idea.
I have a 2012 6.7 powerstroke with 306,000 miles and the only problem it’s had was a upper radiator hose leak
That’s pretty damn solid!
All these bikes Must have a tune if your gonna ride them hard.. They need the fan to come on earlier and or a diff thermostat, you gotta get rid of the catted pipe or it will roast you.. and a good tuner will have you running much more rich to keep it cooler.. They all started coming from the factory really lean for epa numbers of exhaust co2 ect.. When you get that junk off there its a much more pleasant and happier bike to ride on the street. Bar risers were the best money I spent, as I'm 6'2", but everyone that rode it loved them no matter their height..
I always run a bit extra oil in mine.. I use pretty much all of a full gallon... At that sustained rpm you were getting some drain back issues, IE: its not draining back to the sump as fast as its pumping it thru the engine.. That extra bit helps..
When I’m old and can’t ride my R1 that’s what I’m doing for home decor and conversational piece.
Why wait. Do it now in the off season!
Very good video. I am shopping for one, but taking my time. Your video provides some great guidance of what to look for. Thank you for sharing!
How do you like mp112 I thinking of getting one or should I just save the 4,500 for the lsa from boost district
The mp112 works perfect on these 6.0L LQ9! It’s a bit hard on fuel but endless power at any rpm. Awesome set up and has been crazy reliable.
Tks for the side fairing tip! I hate those clicks!
Right! They can be annoying
Great video, thank you!! I’ve had a Gunner since 2015 that I love.
They are great bikes! How many miles on yours? Have you had any issues?
@@JT2JZ only like 12,000 miles which I’m ashamed of lol. I just ride around town, not very far from home. No issues tho!!
@FatherGregorian I’d say that’s average for most people. Nothing wrong with that. I’m glad to hear your bike has been reliable. I’m riding the Oregon / California coast this summer. Hopefully my bike will be just as reliable. It Will be my first long trip with it.
@@JT2JZ you’re in great hands!! These bikes are outstanding. American made, reliable. They really answered all of the typical problems other brands had and corrected them with these bikes.
@FatherGregorian I agree. It’s a damn shame they stopped making them.
That box you didnt know what it was under your air box is a gps tracker. Its plugged into itself so its not being powered or active.
Interesting. Do they usually splice into the bike harness somewhere?
Street bikes looks stupid without mirrors. And I hate to not be able to se if there’s a cop behind me.
What is your ballast setup?
All three factory ballast full. One full bag added in surf side rear locker. Suction cup wedge on opposite side of hull
@@JT2JZ Thanks for the response! What size is the extra bag?
@Chris_Christiansen 400lb if I remember correctly. I only use the extra bag if it’s just me and the wife out for the day. If you have two people in the boat on surf side it’s just as good. I’m pretty impressed with these old centurion boats. Damn good performance for the price and how old they are now. ( my boat is a 2004 C4 21.5ft hull, air Warrior )
Would installing it make the trans work harder or just more efficient? Askin before I fuck around an break sum😭
I would do this to every 4L60 trans even if the truck is stock. Way more reliable, less clutch wear over time. Zero downsides
What's the torque spec on the drain plug?
15ft/lbs But honestly I’ve always just snugged it down by hand my entire life on all my bikes and have never had issues. They are pretty forgiving.
Nice video.
I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the support.
I love my Victory! I lucked out and bought my 2016 Victory Hammer S with only 342 miles on it from a dealer for only $7K out the door! I'm riding it to Sturgis this year.. from Florida lol! I have the 1/4 turn throttle, a throttle lock, Ness Shooter exhaust, K&N air filter, Hammer exclusive front fairing (that the seat cowl can mount to) Lloydz adjustable timing gear, KewlMetal quick release luggage rack w/quick release Viking bags, and I'm really looking forward to riding and camping on my trip to Sturgis.
7k!? Damn you stole that bike. It’s pretty much impossible to find a better bike than that for $7000. Enjoy your trip man! I’m riding the Oregon/ California coast with my victory this year! Can’t wait.
@JT2JZ I agree! But the dealer did try to screw me over by adding almost $1800 worth of fake "fees" but I said we had negotiated an "Out the Door" price the day before I came in to pay for it and pick it up, and when they started their "I need to talk to my manager" B.S. i simply walked out. My friend and I were a 1/2 hour away to go get a Moto Guzzi that had only 26 miles on it when the dealer called me back and said 'okay' they would stick to the original deal. Btw, it was bone stock when I bought it. I put on all the stuff. Some of which I got brand new this year! Parts are out there if you're willing to search it out. Enjoy your trip as well!
I like that you stayed firm on the deal and it all worked out. Nicely done. I bought basically the exact same mods for my victory as well. Very easy to find parts still in my opinion.
Well finding parts isn't a big problem yet. But! Finding a shop to work on them is extremely difficult. I am now having an issue with sputtering, could be my fuel filter which is overdue for replacement or fuel pump or something else completely which I don't have the know how to diagnose the problem. Plus riding on a long distance Trip in my opinion is risky due to the difficultly finding a shop to work on them. The vast majority of shop won't do anything beyond tires and oil changes on Victory's
Indian dealerships or aftermarket shops will always work on them. If a guy is mechanically inclined these bikes are very easy to work on for the most part. I do see your side though. A bit more risky still doing long distance. In my experience on a road trip you are screwed either way though. Last season I got stranded with my Yamaha r1. Starter failed but no one stocks parts anymore so in my eyes doesn’t really matter what bike you have. If you have issues it’s going to be a bad trip regardless of what you are on.
In my area, which is Western Massachusetts. I'm lucky I found ONE shop that is willing to work on My Victory. I've called many others and they won't touch them except for tires and oil changes. Thank You for your response. Love My Victory and really struggling with the idea of parting with it
@michaelroy925 that’s understandable. It’s sad they discontinued these bikes because they truly are great value for what they are. Very well designed. When mine gets higher in kms I will likely sell it as well.
Agree 100%
Right. I love these bikes. Hard to find anyone that’s experienced major problems with them.
Any differences in terms of passenger comfort? I know we're talking about sport bikes, but my gf rides a lot with me so I'm hesitating between the two, R6 vs R1 Crossplane. Thanks and great vids btw!
Seat comfort for the passenger is very similar between the two bikes. As the driver I enjoy doubling on the r1 more. The seat height is lower and longer wheel base makes it feel more stable with two people. The low end torque is also nice for the extra body weight
I've got a 2010 R1 and it's valve clearance issue that causes starting issue
can you install a potentiometer switch instead of a resistor? Is there a way to get around setting the E Brake?
Yes a potentiometer will work and give you an adjustable rpm. Pto circuit needs to see the park brake on to work
I am having the same issue. Mine starts tho but it's a weak start, and it takes around 4-5 seconds until it fires up. Do you think this could be my issue? Thank you!
Might be a weak starter. Check out my other starter replacement video. My starter was the root cause of most of my issues.
what would keep the fuel injectors from opening and closing while cranking the engine over?
Rode both only my opinion cross plane gets my vote
Flat plane is the real deal business in my mind.
I've currently had my 2009 R1 for around 4 months now. Yes, this bike gets very hot. Yes, this bike weighs a lot more than other superbikes. But my god is this thing a monster. I've rode bikes both small and big, but never have I rode a bike as angry as my R1. As soon as you start this bike, it's all sorts of pissed off and just wants you to bang through those gears. It has its flaws, but I don't think I'll ever sell my R1
The R1 is king 👑 It’s the fastest bike I have ever owned. It’s still faster than my aprilia RSV4 by 0.4 seconds in the 1/4 mile ( and the aprilia has launch control, wheelie control and quick shifter! )
bad mileage, nonstop problems, hard to start, not that nice front eyes compared to 2008
It’s an abusive relationship that’s for sure!
Awesome video 📹 😮
Does that crossplane have abs?
No
2007-2008 were my absolute faves... I have my eye on a 2008 atm. They will be collectors bikes. The older bikes look better and sound better. I am for more mechanical and less electrical features, as cool as it is.. On a side note, thank you very much for the video comparison, it was so well presented. It only reinforced my position on getting a 2007-2008 R1.
07-08 are legendary bikes for sure! You will be extremely happy with it.
Go Newer For The Better Technology & Upgrades. The R1 Has Been Upgraded 7 Times Since 2012. R1 Is 1 Of The 2 Best.
I want to try a newer r1 soon but I do like the look of these older 2012 body styles better
Growing Pains With Most Mechanical Machines. However The Revisions Made & Issues Corrected The 2023 & 2024 Are The Best Refined To Ride. However To Each Their Own.
Yo tengo la misma y estoy teniendo problemas con las luces de los faros, básicamente NO SE ENCIENDEN , he revisado fusibles y cables etc etc. , toca llevar al mecánico
The oil lamp appears when you pushing the really hard because at high rpm the oil runs to the back and the oilsensor can’t messure the oil stand anymore. If you go at lower rpm for few secounds it will disappear 👍🏼 i talked about it with my Yamaha dealer and he told me that ! So no worries 👊🏼 i Hope you Unterstand 🥸🤝🏼 6:54
Good info! Thanks for sharing
Would these also fit on a 2016 r6 ?
U got a spe lab silly
I need this on my 3500hd with service body... Would really help up longer hills lol
The power is awesome but your fuel mileage will get cut in half when hauling any load.
Hello so I did the mod and the truck will attempt to start and die quickly sometimes and sometimes it works perfectly. I am going to go over all connections I was just wondering if you have heard of this happening in case the connections are good? And I was wondering if you ever rerouted your ccv hose and if that helped with dripping oil? Mine is good I just remember you having that issue
Make sure your park brake is engaged and the light comes on the dash. Sounds like the truck might be seeing something to disable the ptu. Make sure you don’t have any check engine lights / codes. Possibility a bad connection or wrong resistance wired in. I have not rerouted my ccv yet but it sounds like that will be the best fix from what other people are saying
Thanks for getting back to me. The truck will die the first try and work the second almost every time with the park brake in the same position. If it’s seeing something it is either not seeing it the second time or just allowing it. It seems like maybe not enough fuel pressure at first but honestly no idea lol. Still haven’t checked connections but it works great the second try. Thanks again it’s still very useful even without remote start
I get about 1 or two drops a week in my garage with SPE internal catch can on my '19. It isn't much but kind of annoying. I am thinking about also buying their new external catchcan to supplement and get those before they hit the ground.
It’s is annoying ehh!? Is your ccv routed over the brake booster?
@@JT2JZ Yes it is, I just think over time the small oil filled mist eventually accumulates enough to create enough for a drop or two. Especially when its hot outside
@darin982 good to know. Thanks for sharing.
Do you have any videos on replacing fork seals? Just bought my highball used and the seals are rusted.
Not at the moment. I have done fork seals in the past and it’s a messy, time consuming process ( for me anyways ). Definitely one of my least favourite projects to take on. To be honest that’s one job I would likely pay a shop to do if I ever have to do it again
New subscriber!!! Just because you shared your tune with us jk 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿😂😂😂
Thanks for the support bro!
Hi! Where did you get the rear brake fluid reservoir bracket ?
I modified it myself.
